Tiptoe through the tulips & annual Spring Walk 2012

posted 28 Apr 2012, 05:50 by Unknown user
The Paul Strickland Scanner Centre annual Chenies Spring Walk, and tiptoe through the tulips will take place on Bank Holiday Monday 7th May with registration at 10am and the walk starting at 11am.  This popular, circular walk, approximately 5 miles long has breath-taking views of the Chess Valley and starts off at Chenies Manor, and heads for Latimer, up to Sarratt and back to Chenies Village.  Walkers will mainly use the Chiltern Trail and go through woodlands and across fields.

Last year, with sponsorship, the walk raised nearly £4,000 towards the Paul Strickland Scanner Appeal at Mount Vernon Hospital, to buy new scanners used for the early diagnosis of cancer and other serious diseases.  Anyone taking part in this year’s walk can create an online sponsorship page at - it’s simple, secure and a super way to get friends, family and colleagues to support their fundraising effort.

Fundraising Manager for the Centre, Rina Rawal commented ‘Many walkers join us year after year and always comment on how much they enjoy the walk and beautiful views, especially the bluebells.  We’re very grateful to Chenies Manor House who kindly give all our participants free entry to their famous Tulip Gardens on the day. This really makes the whole event a truly great day out for everyone.  Lots of families who join us bring picnics, whilst others make pit stops at the pubs enroute.  We’re looking forward to a successful event and hope to see lots of walkers taking part.  In the next 12 months or so we have plans for a new scanner and the funds raised from this year’s walk will help pay for it.’

To take part contact the Appeals Office at Paul Strickland Scanner Centre on 01923 844290 or email
Entry fee per person in advance £6 and £7 on the day, with under 10’s free.  The walk has three shortcuts and is unsuitable for pushchairs.  Organisers highly recommended suitable outdoor clothing and footwear.  Visit  for more details (registered charity 298867).
