Three Rivers Music Society - "Musical expression of a father’s love"

posted 27 Oct 2019, 00:34 by Chorleywood Residents' Association

The youngest daughter of renowned Chorleywood jazz pianist and composer John Donegan received many presents at her recent wedding in Tuscany. But one was more precious than all the others -- the jazz album that her father and five musician friends had secretly recorded in her honour.

On Tuesday, November 19, John’s sextet will perform tracks from the album, A Kite for Kate, at a concert in Rickmansworth staged by Three Rivers Music Society. They will also play pieces from Siamsa Vol.1, the album inspired by his native Ireland that John released earlier this year.

The sextet includes some of the most outstanding talents on the British jazz scene. John and his regular playing partners, Paul Jefferies (double bass) and Greg McCarthy (drums), will be joined by Tommaso Starace (alto and soprano sax), Alex Hitchcock (tenor sax) and Steve Fishwick (trumpet and flugelhorn).

The November 19 concert will be held in the Baptist Church, High Street, Rickmansworth WD3 1EH. It will begin at 7.30pm. Tickets £16 at the door. Reduced price for members. Free entry for under-25s. Further information at www.trms.uk
