Lower Road Closure -2nd February for three nights

posted 25 Jan 2011, 12:42 by Unknown user
You may have seen the Highways Agency Boards notifying everyone that Lower Road will be closed to parked cars and traffic.  Please ensure you read the following letter dated 17th January 2011 sent to affected residents and businesses from the Hertfordshire Highways Agency and report any problems to them on the contact details below.

Lower Road, North Road, Shire lane, South Road, Berks Hill, Quickley Lane, St Christopher’s Court, Chorleywood

"As part of our ongoing programme of works, Hertfordshire Highways will be carrying out carriageway resurfacing works along Lower Road. The road will be closed between Shire Lane and Quickley Lane

Works will take place during week commencing Wednesday 2nd February for 3 nights.

Please note that work will normally be undertaken during the hours of 20:00 to 05:00 Monday to Friday. There is a possibility that works may be undertaken outside of these times but every effort will be made to minimise any noise or disruption.

Works will be undertaken by use of a road closure to protect the workforce and public, to allow the works to be undertaken as expediently as possible. We therefore ask that only essential journeys are made during the advertised times.

As you may appreciate, access to private properties will be disrupted during the works, but this will be kept to a minimum.  In order for the works to be completed as quickly as possible, and to minimise inconvenience to you, we would ask that residents refrain from parking in the works area during the times stated above. Any vehicle on the roadside between these locations may be legally relocated, to a nearby street, if the owner cannot be contacted.

For your information the anticipated duration is 3 nights, but this is dependent on weather and any other unforeseen problems that may be encountered once excavation works commence, e.g. alterations to utility services or mains.

If you have any queries or concerns regarding these specific works please do not hesitate to contact our Customer Services Centre 0300 123 4047 or Scheme Engineer Kevin Gardiner on 07766 134383 or visit

Yours faithfully,

For Hertfordshire Highways,

Andy Turner
