M25/JCT 18 Traffic Signal Works

posted 26 Apr 2012, 04:47 by Unknown user
Traffic Signal Refurbishment works commenced on the M25 J18 / A404 Chorleywood Road, Chorleywood on Tuesday 10th April 2012 and are programmed to take approximately 6 weeks to complete.

The work forms part of Hertfordshire Highways ongoing commitment to maintain and improve the road network in Hertfordshire. We will be replacing the existing traffic signal installation with more modern up to date equipment to provide a more reactive junction. We will also be resurfacing the centre of the junction and providing antiskid surfacing and refreshing the road markings. In addition to this some works shall also be undertaken at the junction of the A404 Chorleywood Road / Wyatt’s Road to provide a Variable Message Sign which can advise road users of incidents on the local road network.

The works will be completed using road closures and lane restrictions. It shall also be necessary to close the M25 slip roads and the A404 shall remain open although at times there will be restricted lane use. To minimise the impact on the road network some of the works will be undertaken during the night between 20:00 and 06:00 Monday to Saturday. We will aim to complete the noisiest operations such as carriageway milling and jack hammering by midnight of each shift to reduce the disturbance to nearby properties. Temporary Traffic signals shall replace the existing permanent traffic signals throughout the duration of the works and will closely replicate the current timings. The following table provides full details of the traffic management proposed.

The work is weather dependent and from time to time unforeseen circumstances arise. Any changes to the proposed start date, duration or working hours will be notified on the information boards at either end of the site. To see a summary of the works, please click on the link at the bottom of the page.

Bus services may be affected by these road closures. Details of any changes will be posted at your local bus stop. Alternatively, you can visit - where you can find out further details by visiting the ‘News/Service updates’ and ‘Service disruptions’ section.

Hertfordshire Highways or their contractors will not approach you offering to carry out works to your property. Any cold calling of this nature by people claiming to represent us should be viewed with suspicion and caution. They will not have Hertfordshire Highways’ or the local council’s authority or approval.

Summary of works attached.
