Campaign for the Protection of Rural England - November update

The CPRE have been busy trying to influence the planning debate currently being discussed in Westminster. Here's their recent update that we've received:

CPRE Update - November 2011

Fantastic response to our planning campaign, thank you
We have had an amazing public response to our campaign on the National Planning Policy Framework. Thank you so much if you were one of the 7,579 people who found time to write to your MP or one of the 5,234 campaigners who sent in a response to the Government’s consultation.

In fact, only 21 out of the 533 English MPs haven’t yet received a letter from a CPRE campaigner – and CPRE responses to the consultation on the draft Framework made up over a third of the total number of responses the Government received. CPRE’s response to the Framework is now online, if you’d like to take a look.

Shaun, our chief executive, was called on to give evidence about our views on the Framework at the Commons Communities and Local Government Select Committee last week.

And in October alone, CPRE has been mentioned 44 times in parliamentary debates – mainly in connection with our planning campaign. This is in large part due to the high profile Campaigns Update readers have given the campaign by writing to MPs up and down the country. The CPRE is now busy scheduling meetings with key movers and shakers in both the House of Commons and Lords so that we keep up the momentum.
