Three Rivers District Council have announced a £50 cashback offer for parents in Three Rivers if they use real nappies instead of disposable ones for their children. On average, a baby, from birth to potty, will get through 4,500 disposable nappies, costing the parents approximately £700. In the UK each year, almost 3 billion used disposable nappies are sent to landfill. This equates to 8 million a day and costs the nation £40m in waste management. Three Rivers, in partnership with Hertfordshire County Council, are operating the Real Nappy Cashback Scheme in order to encourage parents to use re-usable nappies. Parents using re-usable nappies or a nappy laundering service for their children need to complete a coupon in order to claim cash back through the scheme. Information about re-usable nappies and Cashback coupons can be downloaded from the Three Rivers District Council website. |
