Proposed Closure of Watford Rubbish Dump

posted 12 Oct 2010, 12:59 by Unknown user   [ updated 12 Oct 2010, 13:19 ]
The Watford Observer has reported upon a campaign to stop the closure of Watford Rubbish Dump (otherwise known as the Wiggenhall Road Household Waste Recycling Centre).

Although most residents in Chorleywood are likely to use the Rickmansworth Household Waste Recycling Centre (or maybe even the Buckinghamshire County facility in Amersham), if the closure of the Wiggenhall Road site in Watford goes ahead this is likely to bring additional pressure upon the facilities in Rickmansworth and Garston. At the weekend the queue of traffic trying to get into the Rickmansworth facility already backs up onto the adjacent Roundabout, so the conjestion is likely to only get worse.

The Residents' Association would recommend that anyone concerned about this closure should write to their local County Councillor (for Chorleywood it's Chris Hayward and request that they represent their views to the meeting of the Hertfordshire Waste Panel where the proposed closure will be discussed.

Alternatively e-mail or write to WasteAware, Waste Management Unit, County Hall, Hertford, SG13 8DN.
