Updates from the CPRE

The Campaign to Protect Rural England has sent round a recent update to the Residents' Assoication.

London Luton airport is having discussions with the Planning Inpsectorate about expanding passenger throughput

CPRE Hertfordshire has discovered that London Luton Airport Ltd. is having discussions with the Planning Inspectorate about the possibility of expanding the passenger throughput of Luton Airport to 30 million per annum (mppa), almost double the size of current proposed expansions. This would make the airport equivalent in size to Gatwick and handling 10mppa more than Stansted. If this comes about it will be devastating for the residents of North Hertfordshire in particular. The ill effects would spread even further across the county. CPRE Hertfordshire is urging everyone to write to their MPs expressing concern at this behind the scenes wheeling and dealing.
