THE PEACE HOSPICE
One of the popular meeting places in Chorleywood is the Hospice Shop in New Parade, where many useful bargains may be found. This shop, together with several others in S W Hertfordshire, raises a considerable sum each year to support the work of the hospice in Watford. For many people this is the face ofthe hospice; but there is much more. The Chorleywood Support Group organises several varied events each year to raise further funds, as the hospice costs about £3 million a year to run, and receives only a quarter of this from the NHS. It does not charge for its services, although most patients and their families make a donation.
Local activities this year include a garden lunch, a presence at Village Day, an Open garden, probably a quartet concert and a golfing event, with several other activities being planned. Look out for notices in the charity shop and elsewhere, or enquire from Derek Stockwell on 01923 282195. He would also like to hear from anyone willing to share in the running of these events. You can visit their website at http://www.peacehospice.co.uk/
