Email update 07 September 2012

Dear all

We're now getting back into the daily routine of working life after the Jubilee, Olympics and Paralympics and it's been a quiet August.

Chorleywood Village Day is cancelled
It's very sad that the Parish Council have felt it necessary to cancel the rearranged Village Day. Whilst we can appreciate their desire to ensure that the common is not unduly damaged by the event, there are many aggrieved local organisations who have put time, effort and MONEY into organising stalls and events for both the original July and rearranged September Village Day. Maybe there needs to be some though put into having a Plan B for such eventualities.

Chorleywood Play Area Consultation
Both our noticeboards at the Library and the Station underpass have full displays of all the options and assessments we and others have helped do on working out what we need for a Play Area in Chorleywood. About 200 responses to the survey have been received so far, but the opportunity to canvas further option at the Village Day now cannot happen. Please remember to take FIVE MINUTES to complete the council's questionnaire.

Despite the absence of Village Day, there's plenty to do in and around Chorleywood this weekend
We've fixed a problem that was affecting our Local What's On and Events Calendar.
Croxfest, Horticultural Society events for Chorleywood and Sarratt, Chalfont St Giles Show,, Amersham Heritage weekend. It's all going on.
Do you know of a local event that's not listed - let us know!

However, September might not be such a quiet month.....

Chorleywood due to host big Charity Festival
A big music festival is planned for next Thursday from 11am to 11pm in Smiths Field, just off Green Street below the Golf Course. It's not a public event, and is organised by the Showman's Guild. This is actually on Buckinghamshire land and we've been liaising with Three Rivers and Chiltern District Council to try and find out as much about the event as possible.
We've found out about this by monitoring stuff on Twitter, if you use Twitter, don't forget to follow us @chorleywoodres

Response from Herts Highways over Chorleywood Flooding
We got a belated response from our County Councillor about the flooding issues that affected Chorleywood back in June (remember the rain?)
We'll continue to monitor progress. They've been working on Green Street this week up by Stubbs Farm.

Heronsgate Road closure
A warning that Heronsgate road will be closed for 2 weeks from tomorrow Saturday 8th September. And Long Lane is closed tomorrow only to try to again fix the ongoing drainage issues.

and finally
Who has actually closed 8 parking spaces in Lower Road this week?
Clancy Docwra put up the barriers, Veolia Water deny responsibility, and the works get listed late this afternoon by Herts Highways as being the repsonsibility of Veolia Water. Go figure!

And if anyone wishes to put in articles for the next newsletter, the copy deadline is this weekend. So get writing! Email in to newsl...@chorleywoodresidents.co.uk

Thanks
